Dear Friends and Family,

Sending you our family love and wishes for a beautiful, blessed 2026 and wishing you a sweet Valentine’s Day (since I missed posting Christmas news.) I am doing well and so grateful to the Lord for His constant provision of peace and for His faithful meeting of our every need.

It has been another big year in our family. Stuarts enjoyed getting back into their home after a flooding situation moved them into their (finished) barn for a season. Elizabeth is busy home educating the boys and has begun teaching music students out of their home which I know she loves. Tom continues to pursue answers to health challenges – thank you for your prayers. Both Hope and Faith experienced the beauty of baptism through their church this summer and they are learning so much at Coon School, a one-room elementary schoolhouse just down the road from the farm. Jonathan is growing up, loving learning to read at home with Mom and is a hard worker, helping Dad and Mom around the farm. Andrew is a little people and animal lover bringing lots of smiles into our lives as the youngest member of our family. (But he is not our youngest for long as Cole and Sarah are expecting a little one due in July! We are all thrilled.)

Cole stays busy serving his plumbing customers, with theater involvement, calling square dances upon occasion and as my right-hand helper in Andy’s absence. Sarah is focused on home education with her children and in helping her extended family, most recently helping at the birth of a precious niece. She and Cole also love directing shows and serving on the board of Midway Theater Company. Ziah loves performing – most recently as “Sven” in Frozen Junior, building amazing Lego sets, reading and time spent with family and friends learning about everything. Alitza adores performing in theater productions, dances beautifully with Verity ballet (most recently in The Nutcracker) and loves all things baby which is a joy to this Grammy to see. Boaz loves loving others, asking important questions, his kitty and being goofy which makes us smile.

My girls enjoyed a very special trip to New York City this past fall, to sightsee, visit friends and to see a favorite Broadway show of Elizabeth’s – Ragtime. Such a joy for them and for me as their Mom, seeing the love they have for each other.

We all miss Andy dearly, while we continue to love the life that God has blessed us with here in Michigan. Most recently we are saddened by the loss of my Dad, Ben Boersma, known as Papa to our whole family. We have the sweet comfort of KNOWING we will see him and our dear Andy/Grandy again. My time is spent focused on our growing family, enjoying life at home with Ben, serving my Mom and loving on our little Yorkie, Tia.

Moriah Ministries has gone through a name change, our website has been removed/replaced and there has been a Board of Trustees change since Andy’s heavenly departure. Thanks to so many of you who stood with Andy and I as we served students at Grand Valley and so many YFC programs over the years. You can read all about our ministry years if you click on Chap Andy.

Posted with love and in honor of the 2nd anniversary of Andy’s homegoing on February 21.

Here we go – 2023 version!

Standard

We are the McDaniels (pictured below) Andy and Valerie, son Benjamin with a couple Boersmas (Ben and Cleo – Val’s folks), Stuarts (daughter Elizabeth and her husband Tom) and Groots (daughter Sarah Grace and her husband Cole) in the mix! The beautiful pic was taken in 2013 when we celebrated our (Andy’s and Valerie’s) 30th wedding anniversary.

We are now in the middle of celebrating our 40th year of marriage adventures. God has added 7 precious grands to our mix – Azaziah, Hope, Faith, Alitza, Jonathan, Boaz and Andrew!

So much to be thankful for.

Follow along as we share our story and adventures. (picture circa 2013)
